Privacy

The Little Cookbook is a small, private project. This is what we store about you, where it lives, and how to have it deleted.

Who runs this

The Little Cookbook is run privately by Heidi Lohne Brække. Questions about privacy or your data can be sent to heidibraekke@gmail.com.

What we store

Your name, your email address, and your password — stored as a bcrypt hash, so not even we can read it. Also the recipes and categories you create, the language you chose, and when you confirmed your email.

Why

Only to run your account: signing you in, showing you your recipes, and emailing you confirmation and password-reset links. No newsletters, no ads, and your data is never sold or shared.

Where it is stored

Everything is in one database at Fly.io (an American company), on an encrypted disk on servers in Amsterdam. An encrypted backup is kept at Cloudflare R2 in the EU. Emails are sent through our email provider, which sees only the recipient and the message.

Cookies

Three cookies, all needed for the site to work: one keeps you signed in, one protects forms against forged requests, and one remembers your language. No tracking, no analytics, no third-party cookies. Recipes you save for offline use stay in your own browser.

Sharing

When you share a recipe, anyone with the link can see it until you stop sharing. If someone saved a copy to their own cookbook, that copy is theirs.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account yourself under Account. Your name, email, password, recipes and categories are deleted straight away. Backups expire on their own within 7 days.

Your rights

You have the right to see, correct and delete the information about you. Send an email and we will help. If you think we are handling your data wrongly, you can complain to the Norwegian Data Protection Authority (Datatilsynet).
